App page. Character Name: Takeuchi Sora Canon: Air Gear Reference picture and Wiki link Point in the time-line taken: Kidnapping and holding Rika hostage during tournament.
Character History: Takeuchi Sora is one person in a pair of twins who was created by scientists in order to create the perfect person suited for the A-Ts that are created with this new-age technology. However, the problem is that the scientists, after putting these children (there were many of them) through tests upon test, determined that only one of them were worth keeping--neither of them being the twins. Instead, the one chosen to be kept talked the scientists out of eliminating the rest and helped his fellow Gravity Children escape the confines of the tower in which they were raised.
Sora, and his brother who was also conveniently named Sora but is also called "Nike", is the Gravity child who was much loved by the wind. Or he loved it. Either way, as time went on, Sora became the Wind King and brought together a team of A-T users, primarily those Gravity Children who escaped the tower. This was largely in order to find the Sky Regalia, which Sora began to spread the rumor that it was in the tower so other A-T teams would also attempt to find it. Using this rumor, Sora actually becomes the one who encourages the creation of the Trophaenum Tournament just so he can swoop in and take the Sky Regalia for himself. By gaining the Regalia, Sora of course determines that he will actually be suited to rule the world. The dream he's had since escaping the tower. Typical villain things.
BUT. The dream of global domination ends when that one Gravity Child who had once saved Sora's life turns against him upon finding out Sora's true goals. The Gravity Child known as Kilik not only takes part in destroying this team Sora's created--the original Sleeping Forest--but he also takes from Sora the use of his legs and thus the sky. This puts Sora in a wheelchair for years, bitter everytime he hears the clocktower which signals the start of the A-T Trophaenum Tournament.
Until, of course, some brat starts making an uproar in the A-T world by being called the next Wind King, heir to the Wing Road. Upon the request of Rika, the boy's adoptive sister and the former Thorn Queen of Sleeping Forest (also Sora's lover at one point), Sora begins to train this Minami ikki with the idea in mind to create a successor. Except successors are a messy, unpredictable business and thus he tells Ikki to sit and wait and cry because he's no longer needed. Sora instead gets some badass hardware on his legs so he can ride A-T's once more, aiming to reclaim his title as Wind King as well as complete his previous plans of global domination. This might involve slaughtering as many of the A-T Kings, former Sleeping Forest, and Gravity Children as possible. :)
Canon Personality: At first, Sora seems very much like Ikki in how he is a SHOUNEN RETARD WING ROAD/WIND KING IDIOT. He seems to be very aloof, smiling and goofing off a lot while riding around in his custom A-T designed wheelchair. Perversion is something he excels in and takes much delight in inflicting on the female population (until Rika piledrives him into the ground, at least). There are times when he's quieter, however, and he sits and enjoys the feel of the breeze because he is still very much akin to the wind as he was before he took the fall that took out his legs.
Later on, it's revealed just how much of a fake and a bastard Sora actually is. All the time since he took that fall, Sora has been bitter and further poisons his own heart with hatred because despite Kilik taking his legs, he was the one to spare his life for the second time in a row (though Nike still managed to beat Kilik up and take his Gem Road Regalia, HA). He's a sociopath who cares very little for the people around him but also knows that it's important to have such relations as with Rika and Ikki in order to bide his time until things were set.
Sora is actually very much the brains while Nike is actually the brawns of the pair of twins. Sora schemes and plots and plans and goes head to head with the genius of Kilik. He is also the one who directs his brother on who to kill and exactly what should happen next in this epic game of chess between Genesis and Sleeping Forest. This shows really well in that, when he saw that Ikki was no longer needed, he immediately torn the brat down and left him crying over the pieces as Sora took back the title of Wind King. He's what people would call heartless to the point where he's even willing to have his lover, Rika, strapped up and likely to be killed.
Blank Personality: Despite the shounen retard behavior being part of an act, it is actually still very much a part of who Sora is. He's actually an idealistic sort when it comes down to it, very much caught up in his own dreams and fantasies and hating reality and thus working to change it By Any Means Necessary. Since this is the case, Blank!Sora will still be a sociopathic bastard who will likely not get why some of the people would have problems with what's going on--it's all a means to an end, right? But, he will also pick up rather quickly that no one likes a good, heartless socio and thus will let his inner shounen retard come forefront.
As a Blank, Sora will be very cautious about who he talks to in terms to his own thoughts and how they might relate to his team or the Blanks in the game. He'll still very much be manipulative and willing to do whatever necessary in order to get in good with the Judges since he opted to work for them, obviously. He won't necessarily be loyal to them, but he'll be subservient in the fact that he will follow orders and do whatever it is the Judges have assigned for him. Who knows? He might have fun with the tasks those Judges have for him. As he get memories back, however, Sora might have an inner hatred for the Judges since they may remind him of certain scientists, but he will still be very much willing to work for them despite this. It's a means to an end, after all.
To the other Blanks, Sora will largely seem quiet and cheerful and with the occasional moment of strategic fail. If people are gullible enough to fall for the act, Sora will keep it up, but there's really no telling if he'll fully drop the act even after someone realizes that it isn't quite right and he's killing someone with a smile or something.
How would this character act in a position of authority? Sora is a natural leader type, in the manipulative way. He takes control of the situation rather well and then proceeds to keep an iron hold on those he's leading--though it might not seem like that to the people he's controling. What are their combat capabilities? Being a Gravity Child and a King of the A-T world, the A-T insane technology attached to his legs now will be his biggest asset in combat. He can fight with A-T and he also has wind abilities which he taught to Ikki. Do they possess any additional tactical or otherwise useful skills? Expert Manipulative Bastard and Coldhearted Socio. This means that Sora will be able to make cool and quick decisions and won't spend a lot of time quibbling over irrelevant details like FEELINGS. Under what circumstances would they rebel against the Judges? If Kilik wakes up in Sabra and Sora isn't allowed to kill him :)
Writing Sample:
The Blank sat and thought, idly leaning over to tap at the metal that seemed to be parts of his lower legs every once in a while as he thought. Waking up in a place he didn't recognize with words written on the wall and a brass tube was one thing. The most puzzling thing at that moment was how he could get these things working. Walking would be difficult with these heavy things, wouldn't it? Hmm...
Tap, tap. The brass tube hitting the non-flesh part of his legs was interesting enough, but it was starting to get boring just sitting in a room with no memories and only a few items in there.
It was lucky then, that the message started to playing, and the Blank put the tube to his eye when he started hearing the tinny sound of someone talking.
A man was apparently sitting and smiling closed-eyedly at whatever was recording him. He seemed cheerful enough, but there was an edge to him saying that he was impatient to get this done and out of the way. "Bide your time. You'll know what needs ta get done. I shall serve the Judges faithfully.
"... oh, they should getcha a chair."
It was as if the person in message would know exactly where this "chair" would be, since he then indicated off to the side of the tube. The Blank looked up and proceeded to grin at the sight of a chair... on wheels. Whoever came up with the concept of that kind of thing was glorious, really.
... now if only someone had remembered to put it a bit closer.
